Rolling Out Sustainability: Eco-Friendly Carpets in the Trade Show Industry

LVE is a proud corporate sponsor of the Experiential Designers and Producers Association (EDPA). LVE President Nicholas Cordaro, an EDPA Sustainability Committee member, was instrumental in developing industry-leading sustainable practices across exhibit structures, flooring, furnishings, staging, lighting, displays, graphics, packaging, waste management, supply chain, and logistics.

Tradeshows and events have struggled with implementing sustainable strategies. The team at LVE, along with our trusted partners, is committed to a more sustainable future. One main area of focus is carpet. Our partner Brumark is the first flooring company to provide a comprehensive recycling and recovery program, diverting flooring materials from landfills and reducing carbon emissions.

Through an exclusive deal Brumark has contracted with a global energy company, we can convert carpet and various other hard-to-recycle products into alternative fuels. This keeps materials out of landfills and reduces dependence on fossil fuels. The padding under carpet is handled differently — it’s more valuable as 100% recyclable material, recycled back into the same type of padding.

Our partnership program rolls out in several service options: full-truckload shipping from our locations and shows; smaller quantities via Brumark’s collection facilities in Las Vegas, NV and Dalton, GA; and an on-site pickup network at tradeshows and events for a broader material range.

For every truckload of material we convert into alternative fuels, we save 16,000 lbs of coal. Our goal over the next three years is to deliver or pick up all carpet and padding from our tradeshows and events nationwide, no matter the size. LVE and Brumark are focused on making sustainability easy to use, transparent, and valuable — so we all do our part as stewards of the industry and the environment.
